This exclusive, 100% recycled resin cat activity center is worthy of some conversation. The Paw-rific JR Kitty Gympretty much has it all: 3 scratching posts, space for hanging toys as well as a generous paw-shaped platform that’s ideal for heftier (or just plain lazy) felines.It may seem a bit pricey to some (about $152), but the folks at CatsPlay.com promise it as a quality keeper.

This owl-shaped plush dog toy is super-cute. It’s made of low-impact hemp with chemical-free fillers and dyes, too. I guess that makes it okay that my dogs will probably devour it-at least they won’t be ingesting harmful toxins.  Available from Amazon for $7.64.

Dog toys equipped with places to hide treats are a great way of keeping your dog out of trouble when you aren’t home, or to distract him when you need some piece and quiet.  This toy is great for keeping your little mischief-maker away from your shoes, but I’m not sure what makes it “eco-friendly.” It’s recyclable, so I guess you could recycle the scraps once your dog chews it to pieces, but wouldn’t it be better if it were made of recycled material?

These eco-friendly cat toys are made of hemp stuffed with organic catnip.  According to the product description, the catnip is not only organic, it’s a “secret blend” engineered for maximum potency.  These toys are built to last, and are reasonably priced at $5.00 from Eco-Pet.

This plush dog toy is basically a sleeve that fits over a used plastic water bottle.  When your dog chews on it, the water bottle inside produces a crinkly sound that your dog will love but that just might drive you barking mad.  Still, it’s a good way to recycle and make your dog happy at the same time.  Available from Jake’s Dog House for $9.95.

Planet Dog makes this recycled chewbone from materials left over from manufacturing other products. It is non-toxic, and you can recycle the scraps when your dog is done with it. Unfortunately, it is only rated for “average” aggressive chewers. If your dog is part piranha, like mine are, you may want to look for something sturdier.  Available from Eco Pet for $9.95.
