Eco Slumber Pet Bed

Who would ever have thought that used plastic bottles could be turned into cushion stuffing? Well, they can – this pet bed is the proof of just that. It has a zipper opening to separate the cover and cushion when they get a little dirty. Both the outer shell and stuffed inner are machine washable, of course. A variety of sizes are available, ranging from 21″x15″ up to 38″x32″, with the price rising accordingly.

The beds are available from $78.00 at Eco-Pet.

Cotton Canvas Dog Duvet

Thursday, December 11th, 2014

Instead of buying a bulky dog bed, this sensible dog duvet allows you to make your own pet bed by stuffing the sturdy cover with any old clothes, pillows or blankets that you already have around your home. So instead of throwing away worn out T-shirts or scruffy old foam pillows, they can provide a comfy bed for your pet in a good looking cover. Have a spare duvet on hand and then the dirty one can just be thrown in the washing machine, making it easy to keep your dog’s bed hygienic and fresh. It comes in a wide variety of fabric designs and in small, medium or large.

Costs $30.82 for the medium size on Amazon.com

Dog Bed in Eco-Friendly Materials

Saturday, October 18th, 2014

A comfy, cozy dog bed is a must for your pet, unless you are happy for him to take over the couch! This bolster bed is wonderfully soft but still supportive with plenty of room to stretch out on.

The bed is hand made in Montana from recycled materials and has a cover in soft fleece fabric that is easy to wash. It is available in four colors, copper, thyme green, natural wheat, and sea blue and comes in various sizes from the enormous extra large (32” x 26”) to a petite small (12” by 9”).

Some owners find that these beds aren’t as thick and fully stuffed as some other dog beds but none of the dogs mentioned had any problem with that! So if you want more room to stretch out on the couch then get one of these for your dog. Not cheap but they are an earth friendly option.

Costs from $99 from Fetch Dog

Organic Pet Beds

Unlike ordinary pet beds, which are usually made of synthetic fabrics and fill, these pet beds are made from 100% organic cotton, organic buckwheat hulls and Eco-Wool. They’re easier on the environment and easier on your pet, too, as they don’t emit chemicals that could hurt his respiratory system.

However, these beds don’t come cheap-you’ll pay $119.99 to $159.99 at Only Natural Pet Store.

This is the best idea EVER!! I’ve bought so many dog beds over the course of my dog’s lifetime it is just silly! It doesn’t matter if they are expensive or cheap they still get nasty and need to be replaced. Molly Mutt, however, just changed all that with selling Doggy Duvets! The plan behind this brilliant idea is that you purchase one of the dog duvets (which come as square or round and small med and large) and then you stuff it with your old clothes, towels or blankets. When the bed get stinky (as you know it will) you just throw everything in the washer and viola! you have yourself a new clean doggy bed.
The fabrics are fabulous too!
Prices range from $20.00 to $95.00 at Molly Mutt

Hemp Pet Pillows

Available in four different styles, these pillows are really eco-friendly. They’re made with a 100% hemp canvas shell containing a 100% unbleached cotton inner bag. The stuffing is a mix of recycled poly-cotton and scrap foam that would otherwise be headed for landfill. All the pillows are hand-dyed and are available in a choice of four different patterns. They start out comfy, but get even softer as they’re used and washed, turning them into a favorite snoozing spot over time!

The pillows are available for $44.00 from Earthdog.
